T-101: Strategies for Success
in the Wilson College of Textiles
"Ms. Jennings was a great professor! She made every class fun and I immediately felt comfortable with her for the first day. Each class was greatly informative and each assignment was easy and educational as well. Given this was a one credit hour class, I understand the assignments were meant to be easy and not cause much stress and Ms. Jennings achieved this. Her assignments could have been pointless busywork but she made each assignment educational and interesting. She also took a great amount of value in her students mental health with was amazing. She always made it known to us during EACH CLASS that if we needed to talk to someone she was always available, even if it was just to lend an ear."

"[Ms. Jennings] was very understanding and reasonable. [She] always puts the students mental health and well-being first, which is refreshing, and reaches out to us personally."

"[Ms. Jennings] was very good at responding to emails promptly as well as being very clear setting office hours for students. She was very reasonable with deadlines for assignments and made sure we fully understood those assignments. The Moodle page is magnificent! It was very easy to see what was going on each week, and it was also very helpful that the presentation was on the Moodle page to view after or before class."

"Supportive and encouraging - Well organized and communicated timelines for each assignment - Gives reminders on due assignments - Approachable - Easy to understand Moodle page - Gives importance to diversity, inclusion, antiracism, etc."

"This course was very enjoyable and a nice break between some of my more difficult classes. Alyssa always did check-ins to see how everyone was doing and always offered resources for support. I learned a lot about campus through this course that I plan to use in my next three and half years at NC State."

"Alyssa Jennings is very friendly and encouraging. I liked hearing her stories of her time in college and getting a job because it made it seem more possible for me to find a good job."

"Ms. Jennings was a wonderful teacher. She gave really useful feedback, and I don't think that I would have done nearly as well in the course if it had not been for the in-class writing conferences that we did. She obviously cares a lot about teaching and was always enthusiastic and prepared for class. She made English more enjoyable for me."

"Ms. Jennings is a fantastic professor to have. She gives fantastic feedback on every project/essay. She cares about your well-being and wants to see you succeed in the classroom as well as in life."

"Professor Jennings is very kind and fair. She was always willing to help out and provide additional feedback. It was always easy to meet with her outside of class."

"She was my favorite teacher this semester; she is able to keep the class fun and interesting, while understanding us as people as well as students, and also [kept] the class in line and on track while learning."

"[Ms. Jennings] was very helpful and receptive to students. It was clear [she] wanted to help students succeed. A positive aspect of the class was the method in which we learned criteria for assignments, which would be to practice them in class or grade an assignment so we would clearly understand the material for the assignment. This was beneficial."
